Year-round play areas for kids of all ages include climbing structures that appeal to toddlers. No outside food is allowed, but there is a cafe with many healthy options, including nut-free and gluten-free choices, as well as coffee for moms and dads. While "Nuthin' But Good Times" is more expensive than other toddler activities in Merrimack, the indoor play and number of options here make for a full day of fun.

Kids Kove at Twin Bridge Park

• If you happen to be in Merrimack on a sunny day, Kids Kove at Twin Bridge Park offers swings, climbing structures, play sand and even a handicap-accessible swing. The park includes trails that lead to waterfalls, a brook for fishing or splashing and picnic spaces. Bring lunch and sunscreen and stay all day. You can't beat the price tag, either, as Twin Bridge is a free public park.

Merrimack YMCA

• The Merrimack YMCA offers recreational swim times seven days a week and Waterbabies classes for you and your toddler to take together. If you prefer to stay dry, there is a weekly preschool basketball time in the YMCA field house as well as an open gym time for you and your toddler to run off that extra energy. The Merrimack YMCA offers daily passes for those who don't want to commit to a full membership.

Wasserman Park

• Wasserman Park is the place to bring a picnic and houses the Norma French Memorial Playground. Adjacent to the park is the Wasserman Conservation Area, an 88-acre area with plenty of hiking trails. You can also walk through the park to the Horse Hill Nature preserve. While your toddler's little legs may not be up for that much hiking in one day, it's a guarantee he'll take a good nap. Feel free to bring your stroller to let him nap while you stroll. Biking is also permitted.

Merrimack Public Library

• The Merrimack Public Library offers story times for little ones, with a children's reading room on the lower level. Story time for toddlers includes stories, finger plays and simple crafts. The library has plenty of board and picture books to pass the morning before nap time. Throughout the summer, the library hosts special events for kids of all ages, including toddlers. If you'd like a field trip out of Merrimack, the library lends passes to museums all around New Hampshire and Massachusetts, such as the New Hampshire Children's museum.
