How to Be a Teen Golf Caddy
Most states allow teenagers to get a job once they turn 14 years old. If you love the outdoors, know the game of golf and are capable of carrying a golf bag, you may want to be a golf caddy. You will make a great caddy if you know the rules of the game and when each club should be used. More caddies are needed during the summer months when the weather is perfect for golfing. This is a great opportunity for you to earn some extra cash during the summer.
Instructions
Make a list of all the golf courses in your area. This will help you decide which ones you want to apply to. For example, one golf course may be close to where one of your parents works. If you don't drive, you could catch a ride with them. Also, it is of great benefit if you have actually played golf on one of those courses. Write up a small resume. The caddy employer will not expect you to have a lot of experience, but the fact that you typed up a resume and had one ready shows you are organized and serious about getting a job. Include any sports you are involved in, and any special skill you may possess. This may impress the employer and put you ahead of other applicants. Apply for the summer caddy positions in person. Then make sure you follow up a few days later. This will also help you stand out above other applicants. Take a tour through the golf course you get hired to caddy in. Pay attention to the details of the course. Knowing the course will allow you to give the golfer a few pointers. Take any caddy training courses offered at the golf course you have found employment with. This is very important as you will need to learn the ins and outs of being a golf caddy. You must know how to respect the golfers even if they are having a bad game. You must also learn where you are to stand so that you are not in the golfers' way. Learn what each golf club is called and what it is used for. The golfer will ask you to hand them a specific club. You will not be able to do this if you don't know which club is which. Exercise daily. Being a golf caddy requires physical strength and stamina. The golf bag and clubs are heavy, and the golf course is long.
