How to Take Pregnant Belly Shot Photos
When you're pregnant, the days seem to pass so slowly as you wait for baby to arrive. But before you know it, you'll look at your big kid lacing up his soccer cleats, amazed he once grew in your belly. Taking belly shots during pregnancy is a great way to commemorate his earliest days and marvel at the miracle of birth.
Things You'll Need
- Digital camera
- A small prop, like a teddy bear or bib
Instructions
Take your first pregnancy belly photo as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Find a setting for your photo that remains the same for every picture. Dress in clothing you can fit in at the end of your pregnancy, such as a large pair of drawstring pants and sports bra. Find a small prop to hold next to your belly. As your belly gets bigger through the months, the prop looks smaller and smaller. A baby bib, teddy bear or rattle should suit this purpose. Stand at three-quarters profile, holding the prop to the side of your belly. Your photographer should take your picture in exactly this same pose for all future pregnancy belly photos. If you stand to the right in the first photo, stand to the right in all future photos. Repeat this process once a week until the baby arrives. Make sure the clothes, setting, prop and pose are identical. The final photo in the series could be a picture of you holding your newborn, with the baby wearing the bib, clutching the rattle or with the teddy bear tucked in beside her.
