How to Reveal the Gender of Your Baby
Announcing the gender of your baby is a momentous occasion. Many people find great pleasure in coming up with creative ways to surprise those around them with the sex of the baby. There are reveals that are loud and dramatic or reveals that are simple, but laced with suspense. The possibilities are endless and depend on your personal style.
Instructions
Reveal the gender at the baby shower. Making the big announcement at an event such as this allows you to get the message out to a large portion of your family and friends. You can use a direct strategy by decorating the shower with pink or blue balloons, make banners or purchase "It's a Girl!" napkins. For the less direct approach try filling a party pinata with pink or blue candies or bake a cake in the color of the gender, to be revealed when the cake is cut. Use food dye to color a vanilla cake pink or blue. Send notes in the mail. If you prefer to let your friends and family know right away rather than wait for the party, send them decorative notes. Use pink or blue note cards inside of white or neutral envelopes. Write "It's a..." on the envelope flap. Make it a secret to all. When you find out the baby's gender, ask the ultrasound technician to keep it a secret from you by writing the result on a slip of paper and sealing it in an envelope. Do not open the envelope until you are ready to reveal it to those around you. Instead of a piece of paper, you could have two identical boxes, one with a pink bootie in it and one with a blue bootie. Give each to the technician and ask him to give you back only the box that reflects your baby's gender. The other box can be donated to charity. Announce the gender to your older children. Give them notes, letters or cards that you have written from the viewpoint of the new baby and sign off with "Love, your little sister" or "Love, your little brother." Previous:How to Sew a Crib Skirt
