How to Predict a Baby's Gender Before Birth
While the best and most accurate way to determine the gender of the baby you are carrying is to go to your doctor for an ultra-sound, trying to guess in unconventional ways can be an entertaining way to pass the pregnancy months. Old wives tales, ancient traditions and even silly tricks and tests can be fun to try and see if they prove to be accurate. Be careful not to take these tests too seriously however, although they do have a 50/50 shot at being correct.

Instructions
Monitor your heart beat. It's said that more than 140 beats a minute indicates a girl, while less than 140 beats indicates a boy. Watch your cravings. Sweet cravings are said to indicate a girl, while salty cravings indicate a boy. Calculate the Chinese birth calendar (see Resources). The ancient practice, said to be very accurate, calculates whether the child is male or female according to the age the mother will be when the child is due to be born and the month the child is conceived. The ancient chart was found in a tomb in Beijing and is currently on display at the Institute of Science in Beijing. Urinate into a cup and mix a tablespoon of Drano into the cup. If the mixture turns green, it indicates a girl, and if it turns blue, it indicates a boy. Observe the age of the mother at conception as well as the year of conception. If both are even, it indicates a girl. If both or one is odd, it indicates a boy. This is said to be an ancient Mayan tradition. Place a key on the ground in front of a pregnant woman. If she picks it up by the narrow end, she is carrying a girl. If she picks it up by the broader end, it's a boy. Monitor your skin. If you are breaking out more than normal, that could be an indicator of a daughter. Tie a ring to a string and hang it over your baby bump. If the ring swings in circles, it's a boy, and if it swings back and forth, it's a girl. Keep an eye on your morning sickness tendencies. If you have little to no morning sickness, it could indicate that you are carrying a boy.
