Grants for Pregnancy Centers
Pregnancy centers are primarily faith-based organizations that provide comprehensive medical information and work to preserve the life and health of the unborn child and his mother. Established and developing pregnancy centers may qualify for private and government grants. In addition to financial support, a pregnancy center may receive legal consultation, training programs, educational resources, technical consultation and administrative help from supporting organizations.

Focus on the Family
-
Focus on the Family's Option Ultrasound Program offers grants to pregnancy medical clinics in communities with a verifiably high rate of abortions. The grant provides 80 percent of the total cost of a new ultrasound machine or 80 percent of the cost of sonography training for medical staff. Option Ultrasound Conversion Grants give pregnancy resource centers financial and instructional assistance when they convert from resource centers to medical clinics. A third program, the Focus on the Family Benevolent Resource Program, awards $525 in educational resources annually to qualifying pregnancy medical clinics, pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes.

Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative Program
-
This program awards matching grants to Knights of Columbus local councils that help medically certified pregnancy care centers purchase new ultrasound machines. If the Supreme Council determines that the pregnancy care center meets its guidelines, the local council can raise funds up to half the cost of an ultrasound machine. At that point, the local council requests a matching grant from the Supreme Council Office.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Bureau Block Grant
-
A pregnancy center may apply for funds from the U.S. government's TANF Bureau Block Grant through its state government. However, these funds may not be spent on religious activities. The TANF Bureau invests in health care services and family services related to poverty prevention, self-sufficiency, establishing two-parent families and reducing out-of-wedlock pregnancies. Several states allocate funds to pregnancy centers from the Maintenance-of-Effort Funds that the state receives from the federal TANF program.
