How to Pack a Hospital Bag before Giving Birth
Packing your bag to take to the hospital for your baby's birth is an exciting and necessary task. It is important to have items both of comfort and necessity in your bag, so you have everything handy that you might want the entire time you are at the hospital. If you forget to bring something, keep the phone number of a friend or family member on hand to have him bring it for you. You may not use everything you pack, but being prepared is important.

What to Pack for Labor
Remember necessary items including your picture ID, hospital paperwork and insurance card. Print several copies of your birth plan, so you can give one to the nurse and hold onto one for reference if necessary. Pack comfort items including glasses if you wear contacts, comfortable clothes, relaxing music and other items to help you relax while you are in labor. What to Pack for after the Baby Is Born
Pack clothes for yourself. You will need nursing bras if you intend to breast-feed and comfortable maternity clothes. Include other necessities in your bag including snacks, sanitary napkins and a journal if you want to write down your memories of the birth. Organize the diaper bag with baby items, including going-home outfits in several sizes, infant hat, diapers and a baby blanket. Install baby car seat in your vehicle.
