You may feel like it's taking the baby forever to finally get here. Decorating the nursery keeps a mother occupied while she counts down the days. Preparing early ensures that you'll have everything set up for the baby's arrival. Add touches of your family's personality in the baby's room. There are no rules for just pink or blue hues anymore. Instructions
Crib and Wall Space
Set up a crib with a colorful sheet and comforter set. Hang the decorative comforter on the wall and place a matching dust ruffle underneath the crib. Hang a shelf on the wall. Place stuffed animals and a small bank on top. Decorate additional wall space with painted wooden letters spelling out your little one's name. Place a rocking chair or glider and footstool by the crib. Add comfort with a fluffy pillow; this transforms the room into a quiet space for nursing or lulling baby back to sleep. Changing Table and Lighting
Fill the changing table with diapers and wipes so that they are easily accessible during changing. Find a table that has drawers for additional storage space to store burp clothes, towels and washcloths. Place a contoured pad on the table; the raised sides make it more difficult for the baby to roll off. Keep your hand on the baby while changing him so he won't take a tumble. Sit a lamp near the table to avoid turning on the overhead light during the night; this prevents the baby from fully awakening, and may help him fall back to sleep. Install a ceiling fan light that does double duty by keeping the room cool during the summer months. Closet
Add closet dividers with compartments. Organize clothing by season and size to make outfits easier to coordinate in a hurry. Keep the frequently used, larger items on the floor. Save the top shelves for storage or minimally used items. Place baskets in the closet. Keep extra bottles, pacifiers and other small items here so they will be easy to locate.
