How often should you bathe a newborn?

You don't need to bathe a newborn every day. In fact, bathing a newborn 2-3 times a week is usually enough.

Here's why:

* Newborns have sensitive skin: Bathing too often can strip away their natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.

* Their skin is naturally clean: Newborns don't get very dirty.

* Bathing can be stressful for newborns: It can be overwhelming for them, especially in the first few weeks.

Instead of full baths, you can clean your newborn's face, neck, and diaper area with a warm washcloth after each diaper change.

Here are some additional tips:

* Use mild, fragrance-free soap: Avoid harsh chemicals and perfumes.

* Keep the water lukewarm: Test the temperature before bathing your baby.

* Support your baby's head and neck: Always hold their head and neck while bathing.

* Don't forget to wash their hair: You can use a mild baby shampoo, but avoid getting it in their eyes.

If you have any concerns about your baby's skin, be sure to talk to your pediatrician.
