How to Get the Air Out of Playtex Drop-ins

Playtex nursers are designed to collapse as the baby feeds, preventing the ingestion of air and reducing gas and colic. A few simple steps will remove any air from the bottle before the feeding, allowing the bottle to work as effectively as possible. The only tool needed to remove the air is an ordinary cloth diaper, which works especially well if you have short fingers or the bottle is not completely full. When the baby is finished, the diaper can be used as a burp cloth.

Things You'll Need

  • Playtex drop-ins original nurser
  • Playtex bottle liner
  • Milk or formula
  • Nipple
  • Nipple holder ring
  • Cloth diaper

Instructions

    • 1

Drop the liner into a clean bottle. Fill the liner with milk or formula. Place a sterilized nipple on top of the bottle and screw on a clean ring.

    • 2

Fold a clean cloth diaper in half widthwise and roll it up tightly. It will form a cylinder about two inches in diameter and eight inches long.

    • 3

Hold the bottle with the nipple pointing up. Insert the cylinder into the bottom of the bottle and push it up, pressing out all the air. You will know all the air has been removed when a thin stream of milk squirts from the bottle.
