How to Get a Thorough and Free Criminal Records Check On A Neighbor
These days, a free criminal records check is relatively easy to come by; however, if you are checking the background of a neighbor, you may want to use an even more thorough background check. Especially if you have kids, it is your duty to do your part in keeping your neighborhood safe. Follow these steps to check into many aspects of your neighbor's background.
Instructions
Check the national sexual offenders registry. I've included a link to the free website in the Resources section below. This is a crucial part of a criminal records check especially if there are women or children in your family that frequently walk alone in the neighborhood. The website is very helpful; you can search for your neighbor by name, but the site also provides a map which shows you where any sexual offenders live or work in your neighborhood. Check the Criminal Searches website (link in the Resources section below). This site gives you a list of any instance in which your neighbor has ever been convicted of any type of crime. The site also gives information about the nature of the crime that they committed and the date when they were convicted. Search for your neighbor's name in a search engine such as Google or Bing. This tactic seems obvious, but it could turn up interesting information about your neighbor's past, such as newspaper articles about him and information about any lawsuits or restraining orders that might have been brought against him.
