How to Attach Girl Scout Patches

The traditional method of attaching a girl scout badge is to sew the badge on. Be sure to get the badge in the right place! Remember, your daughter will be presenting her badges at inspection, so take care with the needle and thread and make sure she looks her best.

Things You'll Need

  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Badge

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the Girl Scouts website to find out where the badges should be placed. Some go on the shirt, some on the sash. It depends on the type of badge and the grade of girl scouts that the badge was for.

    • 2

Push some thread through the eye of the needle and secure it with a knot.

    • 3

Hold the badge in its intended position and sew it into place. Push the needle and thread through both badge and sash, if that is where the badge is to go, and back through the materials again. Follow the edge of the badge until there is a threaded seam running all the way along its periphery, fixing the badge into place.

    • 4

Tie a knot in the end to make sure the thread does not come loose. Cut the thread just above the knot and the badge is attached in place.
