How to Make Sure Your Child Has Enough Clothes
Keeping track of your child̵7;s wardrobe will be an ongoing task as the seasons change and he gets bigger and older. Your child's activities and educational pursuits may also require him to have specific types of clothing. As you attempt to manage it all, organization will be mandatory to ensure that your child has the clothing he needs.
Instructions
Examine the clothing your child currently has to determine what still fits, is suitable for wearing in the current season and is in good condition. Remove any clothing from drawers and closets that your child cannot or will not wear due to size, condition or other issues. Pack or give away these items. Take inventory of the clothing that remains. Make a list of underwear, socks, pants, shorts, shirts, formal wear, shoes, outerwear and other items so you know how many of each item your child owns. Determine your child̵7;s clothing needs based on his daily activities and the frequency you wash clothes. If you do laundry once per week, your child will need seven to 10 outfits, according to Cynthia Townley Ewer, author of ̶0;Houseworks.̶1; If you do laundry twice per week, your child may need between five and six outfits. During the school year, your child̵7;s wardrobe should center around appropriate outfits to wear to school. Set aside additional outfits for play on the afternoons and weekends. During the summer, children̵7;s wardrobe needs will shift to primarily play clothes for warm weather. If your child wears a school uniform, he will need uniform separates. Remember to provide your child with a few dressy outfits for special occasions. Compare your child̵7;s clothing needs against the inventory list to determine what you must purchase. Make a shopping list based on the clothing your child does not have but needs. Purchase approximately twice as much underwear and socks for your child to ensure that he has enough without running out between laundry days. For example, if you wash laundry once per week, purchase at least 14 pairs of underwear and socks for your child.
