How to Find a Play Group

Being the mother of young children isn't the easiest task, so it's nice to have a break from the everyday shuffle, to get yourself and the kids out of the house for some fun. Joining a playgroup gives your kids the opportunity to play with other little ones, which can improve their social skills, and it allows you to meet and visit with other moms who are going through the same walk of life as you. Adult interaction can be a breath of fresh air and it gives you a chance to share experiences, as well as to get and give advice. There are plenty of ways to find the perfect playgroup for you and your little ones.

Instructions

    • 1

Call the churches in your area to ask if any playgroups are offered. Some places of worship organize playgroups for area moms and children.

    • 2

Inquire about playgroups at the community centers in your city, to see if any are planned.

    • 3

Attend story time or other programs at your local library and ask other moms if they know of any playgroups nearby.

    • 4

Look for playgroup flyers posted at area children's clothing stores, grocery stores, maternity stores and at your child's pediatrician office. You could also ask your pediatrician about playgroups at your next visit.

    • 5

Search for playgroups in your area online, at places such as Meetup.com, where you'll find more than 3,000 playgroups listed around the world.

    • 6

Look for a MOPS, Mothers of Preschoolers, group in your community. MOPS is an international organization that helps mothers of preschool age children through mentoring, leadership development, childcare, play time for children and creative activities.

    • 7

Search for a local playgroup through the MOMS Club website. MOMS Club provides support for at-home moms, with a variety of activities that you and your children can enjoy with other area moms and their children.
