Instructions

  1. Preparation

    • 1

Make a guest list and compile addresses. Choose a location for the party. A backyard or park provides an ideal space for games.

    • 2

Purchase premade Superman invitations or design your own. Draw or print the Superman logo and party information on blue paper, or create a newspaper-style invitation fashioned after the "Daily Planet."

    • 3

Mail invitations three weeks prior to the party.

    Party Games

    • 4

Paint a variety of rocks green and hide them around the house or yard. Send the children on a kryptonite hunt. The child who finds the most kryptonite wins.

    • 5

Cut out a silhouette of Superman, or print an enlarged photo of the birthday child wearing a blue shirt. Cut one red Superman logo for each guest. Blindfold children one at a time and have them tape the logo on Superman's shirt.

    • 6

Place various items in a box. Cover the box with a cloth. Have guests test their X-ray vision by trying to identify the items by touch or smell.

    • 7

Form one group of superheroes and a second group of villains. Give each superhero a can of aerosol string spray and send her after the villains. Switch groups after a few minutes so everyone has a chance to be a superhero.

    More Party Fun

    • 8

Purchase a premade superhero cake, or bake your own if you have the cake-decorating skills to do so. Frost with blue icing. Pipe the Superman logo onto the cake with red icing or create the logo using red candy pieces.

    • 9

Make each guest his own Superman cape. Purchase red T-shirts or dye white shirts with red fabric coloring. Cut the sleeves off the shirt. Cut along the shoulder seam, around the front collar and on the second shoulder seam. Leave only the collar and backside of the shirt for the cape. Add the Superman logo with fabric markers or iron-on transfers.

    • 10

Buy Superman-themed party goods, such as plates, napkins, table covers and cups, from your local party store or online. Decorate with red and blue balloons, streamers and signs.
