How to Donate Used Baby Clothes
Your little one is growing up and growing out of her clothing. Keepsakes are nice reminders of their baby memories, but you can't keep everything.
Things You'll Need
- Used baby clothes
Instructions
Sort through your baby clothes. Save the clothes that are truly special to you. Tuck them away safe in a sheltered location, like a plastic bin, free from dirt and moisture. Make sure that the clothes are washed and in good condition. If something is dirty and unwearable, it should not be donated. Have a dedicated "donation" bag, and fill it with your clothes to donate. Decide what you want to do with your baby clothes. You can donate them to a friend for their child, to a charity or to a local shelter. Contact your friend to see if they want your donated baby clothes for their child. Donated hand-me-downs are a great way to save money on children's clothing and are often appreciated by parents who have more than one child. See if there is a local community outreach program. These programs can often get your donated baby clothes immediately to people who really need them. Many places desperately need clothing and baby equipment, as their clients have next to nothing and would put your things to good use. Drop your clothing off at a large donation center like the Salvation Army or Goodwill. These places sometimes sell clothing locally or they bundle it to sell by the ton to other countries. Find a local donation clothing "box" at a church, community center or parking lots.
