How to Remove Gum From the Face

Your young child may love to blow bubbles with gum. If a bubble gets too big or the child cannot control the gum, pieces of gum could get stuck all over the lips and face. Water and soap alone might not easily remove the gum from the skin. The stickiness of the gum needs to be removed while the gum is extracted from the skin. Here are two ways to remove gum from the face.

Things You'll Need

  • Creamy peanut butter Spoon Bath or baby oil Cotton ball Tissue Paper towel Facial soap

Instructions

  1. Using peanut butter

    • 1

Scoop roughly a tablespoon of peanut butter out of the jar.

    • 2

Place the peanut butter on the tips of your index and middle fingers.

    • 3

Rub the peanut butter on the portion of the face that has gum on it. Allow the peanut butter to remain on the skin for about five minutes.

    • 4

Use your index finger and thumb to rub the peanut butter into the skin. Continue doing this until the gum begins to come off the skin. Use a dry paper towel to pull the peanut butter and gum from the skin.

    • 5

Repeat the process if there is still a little bit of gum on the area. Once you've removed all of the gum, wash the area with soap and water.

    Using baby or bath oil

    • 6

Pour or squirt baby oil or bath oil onto the part of the skin with gum on it.

    • 7

Let the oil remain on the skin for about five minutes.

    • 8

Put fresh oil onto a cotton ball and rub the area of skin with the gum on it. The gum should begin coming off the skin. You may need to repeat this with a new saturated cotton ball a few times.

    • 9

Wipe the skin with a tissue to ensure that the gum has been removed from the face. Wash the area with soap and water.
