Original Diaper Genie Instructions

A newborn baby is changed 10 to 12 times per day, often creating an unpleasant odor. The problem is easily solved by using the Playtex Diaper Genie, a diaper disposal system that masks the smell of dirty diapers. The first Diaper Genie was called Diaper Genie Twistaway. Since then, new models have been released and the Twistaway is no longer sold. However, refill cartridges are still sold to accommodate the parents who own the original model.

Things You'll Need

  • Playtex Diaper Genie Twistaway Pail
  • Playtex Diaper Genie Twistaway Refill

Instructions

  1. How to Insert a Diaper

    • 1

Press the safety latch and open the lid.

    • 2

Push a diaper four to five inches into the pail until you feel it fit snugly between securing clips.

    • 3

Close the lid, ensuring that the safety latch has snapped shut. Turn the twist cap on top of the lid clockwise four to five times; you will hear a click after each completed turn.

    How to Empty

    • 4

Turn the twist cap a few times to ensure a tight seal.

    • 5

Press down on the cutter button located on the lid; at the same time, turn the twist cap once. Let go of the cutter button but keep turning the twist cap until the button pops up.

    • 6

With one hand, lift the Diaper Genie by its handle. Holding it over a trash can, press the button at the base to open, allowing the diapers to empty into the garbage. Close the base.

    How to Replace Refill Cartridge

    • 7

Open the lid. Lift the empty cartridge out.

    • 8

      Place the refill cartridge in.

    • 9

Pull the film up at least four inches and tie it into a secure knot.

    • 10

Insert the knotted film through the opening. Close the lid. The Diaper Genie is ready for use.
