How to Get Tree Sap Out of a Child's Hair

A child who enjoys exploring outdoors might come back inside with her hair matted by tree sap. As beautiful as evergreen trees are, the sap sticks stubbornly to hair and clothing.   1. Freeze it Off

When you perceive that the tree sap is losing its hold on the hair, pick it out with your fingers. Wash the peanut butter out of your youngster̵7;s hair with several applications of shampoo.

    Cooking Oils

    • Cooking oils are effective for removing tree sap. Try olive oil, vegetable oil or vegetable shortening to remove tree sap from hair. Apply oil liberally to the tree sap in the hair and work it in gently with your fingers until the sap loosens. Wash your youngster̵7;s hair well until you remove all traces of oil.
