How to Enter a Baby Photo Contest
Surely your baby is one of the cutest in the world and worthy of winning the next big baby photo contest. While you and every other parent out there likely feels the same way, your baby is precious and beautiful. His cute little feet, sparkly eyes and chubby cheeks could very well win a contest. Other than the logistics of entering the contest, which most anyone can do, it takes a good photograph that captures your child's personality and beauty to win.
Instructions
Choose a reputable baby photo contest to enter. Baby food companies, parenting magazines, toy manufacturers, baby stores, clothing companies and television shows often have photo contests that you can trust. Read the contest rules to determine if the picture is supposed to be a candid or posed shot. Check to see if a theme, such as a funny shot or one of your baby eating, is required. Ensure your baby is the right age, as well. Check the submission date and mark your calendar. Open the blinds and curtains and plan to get pictures in the sunlight. Declutter the area. A simple background, such as a plain wall or sheet over a chair, works well. Alternatively, go outdoors on a nice sunny day and get your shots on the green grass, or next to a flower. If you're taking candid shots, no preparation is necessary. Keep your camera nearby so you can capture those special, picture-worthy moments. Turn off the flash, which can upset your baby. Flash use also can result in loss of details in the photograph. Set up a pose if desired. For example, put your baby on a white blanket wearing just his diaper and a fireman hat. Stoop at your baby's level and snap pictures as fast as you can. If you're after a smile, smile at him and make silly sounds. Get close-up shots as well. These often make the best pictures. Download the pictures to your computer and register for the contest, which is typically online. Upload the chosen picture to the site and provide any other information, such as a summary about the photo, as required by the contest. Some contests require votes to win. If that's the case, send out emails to your friends and family, and post your request for votes on social media sites.
