Eddie Bauer Convertible Car Seat Instructions
The Eddie Bauer convertible car seat will grow with your child, enabling you to get the longest use possible. There is extra padding to secure infants and smaller children. A detachable base also enables the seat to be converted into a booster seat for older children. The straps are easily adjustable, and the seat installs in a few easy steps.
Instructions
Seat Placement
Check the height and weight of the child being restrained to determine car-seat placement. Place a child who is between 5 and 35 lbs., and 19 and 36 inches in height in a rear-facing position. This means the child and the car seat should face the rear of the vehicle. He should also be restrained using a five-point harness. Place a child between 22 and 40 lbs., 34 and 43 inches in height, and more than 1 year old in forward-facing position. This means she and the car seat should face the front of the vehicle. Use a five-point harness for restraint. Place a child who weighs from 40 to 100 lbs., is between 43 and 52 inches tall, and is more than 1 year old in a belt-positioning booster. Remove the five-point harness and car-seat base. Face the child and booster seat toward the front. Restrain the child using the vehicle's lap/shoulder belt. If the child is in a rear-facing position, the harness guide must be even with -- or just below -- the shoulders. If the child is in forward-facing position, the harness guide must be even with -- or just above -- the shoulders. Adjust the harness guide at the back of the car seat by rotating the levers and pulling up on the headrest. Securing The Seat
Set the car seat in the car. Pull the seat pad off of the front corners of the plastic car seat shell. Reach under the pad, pull one latch hook between the rear harness slot and buckle the strap. The latch adjuster may be on either side, depending upon your model. Do not twist the belt. Route the entire latch belt through the upper slot inside of the shell. Connect one latch belt hook to the anchor, which is located in the vehicle-seat bight. Repeat for the other side of the child restraint. Push down on the child restraint and pull up on the loop to tighten the belt. Securing the Child
Place the child in the seat, and size the restraint straps. Loosen the harness by pushing down on the harness-release lever while pulling the harness out. The harness-release lever may be under the pad or on a flap on the front of the seat, depending on your model. Slip the harness over the shoulders of the child. The child's back should be flat against the backrest. Rotate the harness-guide levers located near the headrest and pull up on the headrest to adjust the harness guide.
