How to Put the Straps Back in a Graco ComfortSport

Suitable for car and airplane travel, the Graco ComfortSport child restraint comes in two different models: the 5-Point model and the Overhead Shield model. Both types of car seats have crotch straps and harness straps. You might need to remove these straps for cleaning or to adjust their position. Proper reattachment of the straps is essential to ensure the safety of your child.

Instructions

    • 1

Thread the crotch strap through the appropriate slot on the seat of the child restraint. The crotch strap should not be under your child. Instead, it should be threaded through the opening that is closest to your child. The red button on the buckle must face away from your child.

Attach the clip at the bottom of the car seat to the loop on the crotch strap.

    • 3

Thread both harness straps through the slots of the seat pad and the car seat. The harness straps secure your child's upper body to the child restraint. Be sure that the slots match. For example, if you use the top slot for the left shoulder, you must use the top slot for the right shoulder. In order to match the slots, pull the seat pad slightly away from the car seat so that you can see the car seat slots.

Attach the harness straps to the splitter plate located behind the child restraint. Each of the harness straps has loops that clip onto the splitter plate. In the 5-Point model, the straps have both upper and lower loops. For infants and small toddlers, use the top loops. For toddlers, use the bottom loops. In the Overhead Shield model, each strap has a single loop. For both models, attach the right strap, the one that goes over your child's left shoulder, first.
