How to Make Chores Fun & Effective
Chores are a daunting family task. Everything has to be put in order and cleaned, and getting the kids to help out is a task in itself. Discouragement results in the continuing argument to try to get children to do chores, leaving the parents to do chores themselves. Families need to work together to keep a neat household. There are a few steps which turn the chores from dull to fun and help kids clean up effectively.

Instructions
Gather your children and spouse together to discuss chores. Talk about what each person can handle and what they would like to do for a household chore. Write down each person's ideas and arrange a chore chart for mom, dad and the children. Reward each family member for doing a chore with a reward sticker. Whoever has the most stickers at the end of the week will get a Chore Award and reward. Rewards range from a simple fake trophy to a family day of fun each week. Create games for each chore, such as the Clutter Jail game. Give each child a basket and assign them to pick up every piece of clutter on the floor, tables and furniture. The items are now in jail. Every family member, including mom and dad, have to complete a chore to get their things out of jail. This game is used in conjunction with the charts. Complete a 10 minute tidy up time after dinner. Every family member races against a timer to pick up as much clutter as possible. The person with the most clutter wins a small prize. This step is useful in conjunction with other chore activities.
