How to Decorate Your Kids Room On a Budget

This article will show you how to quickly make a major difference in your childs room without spending a fortune. It will put a huge smile on their face and make you a hero.

Things You'll Need

  • 400-800 dollars

Instructions

    • 1

Decide on a color paint at the store and purchase the necessary equipment and paint to coat the whole room. One gallon was plenty for me and left paint for touchups a pretty standard sized room.

    • 2

Buy some banners that has adhesive and a design that fits your childs personality to go along the top of the entire room ceiling. Usually it will take about 3 rolls for a standard room.

    • 3

Purchase a new bed and construct the bed if need be before you ever begin painting. This will be your largest expense. I purchased a nice solid wood bunk bed for my two girls. this will open the room up for more things if you have multiple children.

After the bed is constructed place it in the middle of the room and prep the room for painting. Use masking tape around any windows or areas to not be painted. Remove the electrical outlet plates rather then taping with a screwdriver.

    • 5

Paint the entire room and allow ample time to dry with good ventilation. The paint I purchased took only 60 minutes to dry. However be careful when removing the tape if you are in a rush.

    • 6

After several hours of dry time adhere the banner along the entire ceiling of the room. Then place the new bed in the spot you want it to go. Do not place the bed directly up against the wall for now.

    • 7

Clean the entire room and put all toys and clothes away. When your children come home they will be so excited and it will look and feel like an entirely newly remodeled room.
