How to Make a Personal Timeline for a Child
A personal timeline is a great way to help a child reflect on how much she has grown and accomplished. "Self-esteem is the collection of beliefs or feelings we have about ourselves," according to KidsHealth.org. Seeing her accomplishments documented in words and pictures through a personal timeline will give her a sense of accomplishment and will boost her self-esteem.
Things You'll Need
- Poster Board
- Markers
- Photographs
- Ruler
- Glue
Instructions
List important milestones in the child's life. The first should be when the child was born. Other milestones may include learning to walk, learning to read, or an addition to the family. Include family activities like favorite vacations. Locate photographs for as many of the milestones as possible. Including a photograph at each milestone gives the child a visual sense of growth. Draw a line horizontally through the middle of the poster board. Use hash marks to indicate particular years along the line. The first hash mark, at the beginning of the line, will indicate when the child was born. Depending on the age of the child, space hash marks evenly across the line representing each year of the child's life. A ruler will help to make these lines straight and your hash marks evenly spaced. Locate the proper position of each milestone along the time line. Give a brief description of the event, including date and age of the child at the time of the event. Glue photographs near the appropriate milestone description to give clear visual representation of the child's growth. Previous:Kid's Skit Ideas
