How to Make Play Dough without Cooking

I've looked for play dough recipes and most of them include the need for cooking. This recipe doesn't require cooking at all and it takes no time to prepare. This recipe is good for preschool and kindergarten classes. The kids can make the play dough in class and take it home with them at the end of the day.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 7 drops food coloring
  • large mixing bowl
  • small mixing bowl

Instructions

    • 1

Add together flour, salt and vegetable oil in large mixing bowl. Mix well.

    • 2

In separate bowl, pour in water. Add 7 drops of food coloring to water and stir well.

    • 3

Slowly add the colored water to the mixture in the large bowl, about 1/4 cup colored water at a time. Stir together with a spoon.

    • 4

Turn dough onto wax paper and knead by hand until the desired consistency.

    • 5

Store in a sealed container. This will prevent the play dough from drying out. Always return it to the container when finished.
