NASA Summer Camps for Kids

The mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) promotes is to "pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery, and aeronautics research." Pioneering the future includes offering students across the nation a glimpse into the work that astronauts and engineers do at NASA. Space Camp, according to NASA, is actually owned and operated privately and not a government entity. NASA offers its own fun programming for summer campers, as well as lending a helping hand to other organizations that provide similar camps.

  1. Camp Kennedy Space Center

    • NASA provides day camps for children 8 and up. Children will experience space simulations, space vehicles, and teamwork to investigate space travel. As of 2010, the tuition for a week of camp runs $295.

    Virginia Space Flight Adventure Camp

    • Through an Eastern Shore Regional Partnership, camps are offered at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. New dorms were added in 2010 for residential week-long camps that focus on rockets and spaceflight. Programs are designed for children ages 11-15.

    Space Center Houston

    • Space Center Houston is the official visitor center for NASA's Johnson Space Center but is not a part of the government's institution. Day camps for children ages 4-14 are offered with space experiments, exhibits, and hands-on exploration.
