Free Barney Games for Kids

The big purple dinosaur known as Barney is a beloved children's character. "Barney and Friends" is a long-running, often educational PBS children's series that has spawned an entire industry of Barney products and toys as well as live stage shows. Free Barney games for kids are available on assorted Barney sites, including PBS Kids.

  1. Birthday Games

    • Free Barney birthday games are available on sites such as Barney.com. Games include making a birthday cake by clicking on certain colors and decorations to decorate the cake. Other birthday games include "It Fits," where toys must be placed in the correct size box to be given out as presents. Baby Bop, Barney's green baby dinosaur cousin, is there to help kids if they put toys in boxes that are too big or too small.

    Puzzle and Educational Games

    • Free Barney puzzle games include online jigsaw puzzles from sites such as Top Free Games, which includes hints for solving the puzzle. Numbers games include those on the PBS Kids site, such as those for matching colors, numbers and shapes in each picture provided. For example, children are given an image of BJ, Barney's yellow dinosaur friend, with assorted sports balls and must select the correct shape from those given that matches the balls. Barney's "Counting Game" from Barney.com features scenes with Barney and assorted animals. Children must count the number of animals specified, such as baby chicks, to move on to the next round.

    • Barney games with an animal theme include "Every Animal Talks" from Barney.com, where kids must match the correct animal sound to an image of the animal. "Catch the Monkeys" is a game where monkeys continually pop up from behind trees and bushes. A kid must attempt to catch as many monkeys as she can with her computer's mouse.

    Music Games

    • There are numerous Barney musical games available through sites like Barney.com. These include "Jungle Jam," a game where kids can create their own music by clicking on assorted animals and hearing the sounds they make. Another music game is "Riff's Music Everywhere Game," where kids help Riff, another Barney character, make music out of tools, animals, household goods and other items. "Barney's Dance Along Jukebox" is a game where kids can select a Barney-themed dance song to dance to. Children must follow along with Barney characters to learn dance moves, and can change the characters or song at any time to learn new moves.
