Backstage Dance Company offers music lessons for all ages. Weekly piano, guitar, voice and harp lessons are available in your choice of private or group settings. Classes are taught by experienced instructors and new students can take attend a free trial class. Allied Music Instructors has two Knoxville locations. Allied Music has been in operation since 2003, focusing on music lessons. Your child can choose from voice, guitar, violin, banjo, mandolin, piano, drums, bass and ukulele. Recital and ensemble programs and available. Angela Floyd Schools operates eastern and western locations in Knoxville. The school has been in operation since 1997. The University of Tennessee in Knoxville offers summer camps for kids in a variety of fun activities. World Music and Drumming is a weeklong, three-hour a day class for children in fourth through sixth grades. Webb School of Knoxville hosts a camp titled The Voice: Singing Camp for kids entering third through fifth grades. The weeklong, full-day program teaches kids about Hollywood screen legends and current pop stars. Children will develop voice skills and learn basic choreography. The Beat: Drum Camp, led by jazz drummer Harrison Seiler, is also at Webb School. Kids entering fourth through seventh grades bring sticks and practice pads to learn basic drumming techniques.

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra hosts special Young People's Concerts, designed to introduce kids to classical music. For example, the Orchestra Quiz Show is an interactive program for students in third through fifth grades. Popular game show formats and fun performers are used to educate kids about music, including Renaissance, classical, contemporary and romantic. The annual Knoxville Children's Festival of Reading kicks off the libraries Summer Reading Program. Six stages feature music for kids, and kids can dance with interactive performances. Besides music, several children authors read on the stages.
