How to Figure out How Pregnant You Are
When that pregnancy test turns positive, you might be overwhelmed with a flood of emotions -- joy, excitement, shock or apprehension. After accepting the reality of that positive test, you might start to wonder how far along you are and when your bundle of joy will join your family. Calculating how far along you are in your pregnancy depends on the date of your last menstrual period. The regularity of your cycle plays a role in how easily you can determine how pregnant you are.

- Calendar
Instructions
Identify the first day of your last menstrual period. If you were actively trying to get pregnant, you might have made a note of your last period on a calendar or chart. If your cycles are regular -- such as every 28 days -- you can likely determine the start day of your last cycle. However, if the pregnancy was a surprise or you have an irregular cycle, identifying the precise date of your last period might be more challenging. Count the number of weeks between the first day of your last period and the current date. If you are five weeks past your last menstrual period and have taken a pregnancy test that turned positive, you are five weeks pregnant. Schedule a dating ultrasound with your obstetrician or midwife. The American Pregnancy Association reports that ultrasounds between eight and 18 weeks of pregnancy, or eight to 18 weeks after the last menstrual period started, can best determine gestational age. Your obstetrician or midwife will measure the size of your baby and uterus to estimate how pregnant you are. Previous:No
