Baby Games for Girls

As your baby girl is growing, her senses can be developed greatly by playing games. She's constantly observing everything that is happening around her, and can be enriched when her senses are stimulated using sight, sound, touch, and even smell. Remember that when it comes to playing games with your baby girl, repetition is very important. She may not understand the first few times, but eventually she will learn to piece together what's going on and can start laughing the moment you begin.

  1. Games for Baby Girls: Newborn to Three Months

    • When your baby girl is brand new to the world, her level of reaction may be very low and it's best to play games associated with sound, sight and touch. Try putting on some music and swaying around while holding your baby girl, very slowly and gently as a newborn but increasingly more upbeat as she grows. Make sure to give her neck the proper amount of support.

Another game that works well with this age is to get a small stash of household items, such as spatulas or stuffed animals, and take turns showing your baby each one about a foot away from her face. As you are showing her, make sure to look at the item yourself-- your baby is more likely to be watching you and will eventually make the connection that you want her to see whatever you're holding.

Games for Baby Girls: Four to Six Months

    • By the time your baby girl has grown to be in the four to six month age group, she has become more physically active and will enjoy games that stimulate touch and sight. She will be old enough to have learned anticipation, so try playing "I'm gonna get you!" with your baby girl. Start on the other side of the room and move toward her, building up anticipation as you get closer by saying something along the lines of "I'm gonna get you! I'm gonna give you a kiss!" When you reach her, tickle her or cover her face in kisses.

Another game to play with your baby girl that never fails to grab your baby's attention is to blow bubbles. Babies are fascinated by bubbles and will love to watch and reach out to them.

Games for Baby Girls: Seven Months to One Year

    • By now, your baby girl will be crawling and walking soon. Playing games like Peek-a-Boo will stimulate her greatly until then, and when she finally can walk, have fun with her by putting a favorite toy down on the couch or across the room and encouraging her to get it.

Another game is to get a shoebox and fill it with a few toys before showing your baby girl how to open the box and take some things out. She'll have a blast rearranging the stuff in the box.

This is a great age to start making bath time super fun with your baby girl and loading the tub with toys and other fun things like bubbles and empty cups. These will all stimulate her sense of touch, sight and even sound (sounds of splashing).
