How to Wear a Petunia Pickle Sling
Petunia Pickle Bottom is an upscale company that features baby products made with a posh style and from rich and grown-up looking fabrics. They manufacture diaper bags, baby carriers, slings, blankets and some baby clothing. Some of the slings are reversible 100 percent cotton and are machine washable and dryable, while some are made of water-resistant brocade which must be dry cleaned.
Instructions
Measure yourself to determine the right size sling to purchase. Small size is for a 23 to 24 inch shoulder to hip measurement, a 30 to 35 inch above chest measurement and a size small to medium T-shirt size. Medium sling fits 25 to 26 inch shoulder to hip, 35 to 38 above chest, and a size medium to large T-shirt size. Large fits measurements above these dimensions. Put the sling on by first folding the pouch inside itself to make a tube that is two-layered. Place the curved seamed end at your hip and to the front and put your arm through. Pull the folded edge over your head and place it on the opposite shoulder from the hip the curved seam sits at. The open side of the tube will be facing upwards. Use the cradle carry position for newborns up to 4 months old. Baby will be in a seated position facing frontwards. Open the sling away from your body and line up baby's bottom with the seam with the PPB logo. Lower baby into the pouch and tuck in baby's legs. Open the sling wide enough to allow baby's head to rest against your body. Secure the baby by adjusting the fabric so it cradles baby on both sides. Position baby in a front carry hold for infants ages 3 to 6 months. Put the sling on and align it so that the seams line up with your belly button. With baby facing you, place baby in tucked position against your chest. Lower baby all the way into the sling bottom first and with feet against your tummy. Make sure the outer fold of the sling supports baby's back while the under fold is against your chest. Baby should be deeply seated in the sling with your bellies touching. Use the hip carry for infants 5 months and up to 25 pounds. While the sling is on, align the seams with your belly button. Hold baby up high on your shoulder and on the opposite side hold the sling away from your body and slide the baby's feet through. Align the seam with baby's bottom. Finding the inner layer of the sling, position baby in a seated pose between folds of fabric. Put baby so he is straddling your hip. Pull the fabric up on his back so that baby is supported. The under fold should be up against the back of baby's knees. The proper position is when baby's bottom is higher than his knees.
