Arms Reach Co-Sleeper Instructions

The Arms Reach Co-Sleeper Bassinet is designed to improve sleep for both parents and babies and allow better bonding with a new baby. The design of the bassinet allows it to attach directly to a regular-size bed while still giving the baby a separate sleeping area. When attached to a bed, the bassinet has three sides and an opening that lines up with the mattress. The Co-Sleeper can also serve as a playpen or as a regular four-sided, free-standing bassinet. You must first assemble the bassinet as a play yard and then convert it to a Co-Sleeper.

Things You'll Need

  • Mattress
  • Fitted sheet
  • Fabric liner
  • 2 mattress support rod connectors
  • 4 mattress support rods
  • Plastic resistance plate with nylon straps attached

Instructions

  1. Playpen Assembly

    • 1

Unzip the bag containing the play yard, and remove it. Set the playpen on the floor, standing upright. Remove the Velcro tabs, and set the playpen mattress, packaged separately in the bag, to the side.

    • 2

Pull apart the four corner posts of the playpen so each side is in a V shape. Grasp both sides of the V on one side of the playpen, and pull upward until you hear a click on each side. Continue the same motion with each side. If the top of each side is not rigid, pull up again.

    • 3

Push down on the bottom of the playpen until it is completely flat.

    • 4

Place the fitted sheet on the playpen mattress, and place the mattress in the bottom of the playpen.

    Assembling the Co-Sleeper

    • 5

Lift up the bottom horizontal bar on the long side of the playpen you will remove when converting it to a Co-Sleeper. Unlock and push down the upper bar on the same side. Push the upper bar inward, using pressure on two different points.

    • 6

Open the two snaps on each side of the side panels.

    • 7

Locate the locking tab inside both upper plastic corner pieces, and push the tabs toward the center of the playpen.

    • 8

Raise the plastic connector up and out of the receiving slot, located on the top section of each side of the upper bar, near the plastic corner pieces. Push the upper bar down to the lower setting, and click it into place. Pull up on the center of the bar until it locks into place.

    • 9

Assemble the hanger rods, putting the connector piece onto the end of one rod with a hanger end. Place another rod on the other side of the connector piece so you have a long rod with two hanging ends. Repeat with the remaining pieces.

    • 10

Hang the rods from the top of upper bars on the two sides, which are the shorter pieces. The rods should run perpendicular to the long side of the Co-Sleeper. Lay the liner over the rods with the long flap over the bar you lowered in Step 4. Pull back the corners of the liner over the plastic corners, and secure them with snaps. Secure the long side of the liner to the bottom portion of the Co-Sleeper with Velcro pieces found on the liner and the nylon part of the Co-Sleeper.

    • 11

Place the playpen floor on the liner to serve as a mattress. Thread the Velcro strips on the bottom of the playpen floor through the holes in the liner, and wrap them around the hanging rods and back through the liner holes. Attach the Velcro to the matching piece of Velcro on the mattress. Repeat with the additional three straps.

    • 12

Unroll the nylon straps from the plastic resistance plate, and lay the straps across the adult bed. The resistance plate is a separate piece included in the playpen bag. Position the straps so they line up with the center of the Co-Sleeper position. Place the straps between the mattress and box spring on the adult bed by placing straps and resistance plate at the top or bottom of the bed and using a sawing motion to bring them to the desired location. Position the resistance plate on the opposite side of the bed from the Co-Sleeper.

    • 13

Attach the straps to the Co-Sleeper by pulling them around the legs of the Co-Sleeper and clipping them to the buckle at the back of the Co-Sleeper. Pull the strap as tight as possible so the Co-Sleeper is flush with the adult bed. Push any extra strap between the adult mattress and the Co-Sleeper.
