How to Bathe Baby in a Big Tub
Your precious little bundle is growing up and no longer needs sponge baths. She has outgrown her baby tub and is ready to sit in the big tub. Most babies are ready to sit independently around six months of age. Even though she sits independently, she may still require some support. Be prepared for your baby to be apprehensive about moving to the tub, since this is unknown territory. On the other hand, she may see it as a challenge and be ready to splash away.
Things You'll Need
- Small towel
- Rubber ducky
- Plastic books
- Baby bath
- Shampoo
- Hooded towel
Instructions
Safety First
Run tepid water into the tub. Only run enough water to cover your baby's legs, since babies don't require much water to get clean. Place a small towel in the tub to sit your baby on, to avoid slipping. Place your hand on your little one's back while bathing, so she will not fall over by accident. Ignore the ringing phone or anything else that distracts you from bathing. Sit on the tub's edge or get on your knees beside the tub to stay at your baby's level. Never leave your child alone while in the bathtub. Arrange Materials for Convenience
Place a small rubber ducky and plastic books in the tub. Keep your baby occupied during the bath, especially if he is resistant to bathing. Place baby bath and shampoo on the tub, within arm's reach, so you don't have to get up to find them. Snuggle baby in a hooded towel. Dry her off, moisturize and dress her. Empty the water from the tub after getting your little one out, so the sound won't startle her.
