ERGO Infant Insert Instructions

For many parents, there is no better feeling that holding their baby close and secure. The ERGObaby Carrier is a hands-free carrying system worn on the front of the body placed snugly against the chest. The ERGObaby Infant Insert is designed for babies from newborn to 4 months old. The ERGObaby Infant Insert provides the additional support necessary for the baby̵7;s head, neck and spine during the first critical months of development. The Infant Insert also has a padded top that can be folded down to protect a newborn from chafing.

Instructions

    • 1

Loosen the shoulder straps of the ERGObaby Carrier, leaving a 1-inch tab on the nylon strap. This tab will be used later to shorted the straps once the baby is positioned. Adjust the location of the chest strap that connects between the shoulder straps to about 2 inches above the bottom of the padding closest to the buckles on the shoulder strap. Fasten the ERGObaby Carrier around your waist and allow the chest panel and shoulder straps to hang down in front.

    • 2

Lay the ERGObaby Infant Insert on a flat surface and place the baby in the center so that the head is positioned in the center of the insert's upper edge. Place the two bottom corners of the Infant Insert beneath the baby̵7;s thighs so that the corners now are in front of the baby̵7;s stomach. The baby̵7;s legs should appear lifted at an angle and slightly spread apart.

    • 3

Hold the corners of the Infant Insert with one hand between the baby̵7;s knees. With the other hand, lift up the child in the Infant Insert and position him or her against your body with the baby̵7;s legs at your belly. Use one hand to hold the baby while using a free hand to put on one of the ERGObaby Carrier shoulder straps. Switch hands to put on the opposite strap.

    • 4

Use one hand to support the baby̵7;s back and the other hand to tighten one shoulder strap by pulling the nylon strap toward the baby. Switch hands to tighten the other shoulder strap. The shoulder straps should be tight enough so that you feel the baby secure against your body, yet with room for adjustment. Fasten the chest strap behind your neck and adjust it to a comfortable tightness. Adjust the strapping so that it does not rub against the baby. If necessary, you also can fold over the top edge of the Infant Insert to provide more support for the baby̵7;s head.

    • 5

To remove the baby, use one hand to support him or her and the other hand to reach behind your neck to unfasten the chest strap buckle. Slip the arm not supporting the baby out of the shoulder strap and slide your hand between the baby and the ERGObaby Carrier. Gently remove the baby from the carrier with both hands.
