What do new parents wish their baby would learn to quickly make life easier?
Sleep:
* Sleeping through the night: This is the holy grail for new parents. The ability to sleep for longer stretches without waking would be a game changer.
* Self-soothing: Learning to fall back asleep independently after waking would reduce the amount of rocking, feeding, or shushing required.
Feeding:
* Eating more efficiently: Babies who can finish a feeding quicker and without fussing would be a welcome change for tired parents.
* Taking a bottle/breastfeed without constant distractions: Being able to focus on feeding without being easily startled or distracted would make mealtimes smoother.
Communication:
* Communicating needs clearly: Instead of crying, babies who could communicate their needs through gestures, sounds, or even words would be much easier to understand.
* Responding to their name: Being able to get a baby's attention easily would be helpful for calming them down, redirecting their focus, or simply knowing they are paying attention.
Other:
* Staying in one place for a few minutes: This would allow parents to shower, use the restroom, or even simply take a breath without needing to constantly hold their baby.
* Entertaining themselves: Babies who can entertain themselves with toys or activities would free up parents for other tasks or simply a few minutes of rest.
* Accepting new foods: This would make mealtimes less stressful and expand the baby's diet more easily.
It's important to remember that every baby develops at their own pace, and these skills take time and patience to learn. While new parents might wish for their babies to learn these things quickly, they are also enjoying the journey and appreciating every milestone.
