How to Clean an Uncircumsized Toddler
When you choose to keep your son intact, the uncircumcised penis will require specific care to maintain hygiene and health. With a toddler, begin the process of slowly showing and teaching him how to keep himself clean. When he is little, you will do this for him. Gradually, as he gets older, he will learn what to do so that he can perform his own personal hygiene.
Things You'll Need
- Mild soap
Instructions
Check to see if the foreskin on your toddler̵7;s penis separates from the tip by pushing it back gently. A toddler̵7;s foreskin might not retract yet, states the American Academy of Pediatrics HealthyChildren.org website. Retraction might occur during infancy, toddlerhood, childhood or not until puberty. Wash the outer surfaces of your toddler̵7;s penis with mild soap and water during bath time if the foreskin does not retract, advises MayoClinic.com. Do not attempt to retract the foreskin forcefully to clean the tip. Pull back the foreskin gently if it retracts and wash the tip of the penis with mild soap and water. Rinse away all traces of soap and pat the tip dry gently with a soft towel. Replace the foreskin. Repeat this process daily for basic hygiene.
