Easter Crafts With Egg Cartons for Toddlers

Celebrate Easter with spring crafts at a toddler level. By reusing leftover egg cartons as the base, you can create a selection of projects capturing the excitement of new life in the Easter season. Entertain your munchkin with a craft that will develop his fine motor skills while drawing out that toddler imagination.

  1. Newborn Chick

    • Show your toddler how to create an adorable newborn chick for Easter using an egg carton, yellow pom-poms and wiggly eyes. Separate one egg cup from an empty white egg carton. Cut jagged edges along the top to look like a broken egg shell. Next, have your toddler create the chick by gluing a smaller yellow pom-pom as a head on top of a larger pom-pom. Use craft glue to attach wiggly eyes and a small folded piece of orange card stock. Place the baby chick into his egg home and display as an Easter decoration.

    Bunny Rabbit

    • Fashion a bunny rabbit head to peak out of a pile of Easter grass. Have your toddler cut one egg cup out of an egg carton using his safety scissors. Place the cup upside down on newspaper or a craft placemat. Show your child how to paint the outside of the cup in a bunny-gray or brown color. While the paint dries, have your toddler cut bunny ears out of a matching color of construction paper. Once the cup is completely dry, your munchkin can glue on the ears, wiggly eyes and folded pieces of fuzzy pipe cleaner as whiskers.

    Flower Bouquet

    • Your toddler will be delighted to create an entire bouquet of Easter flowers to display. After your tot cuts egg cups out of the carton for each flower she plans to paint, show her how to use her safety scissors to cut small triangles out of the top of each cup to create the illusion of petals. Protect your work surface and your tot̵7;s clothes, and then set her to paint the flower petals inside and out. After one layer of paint dries, she can paint another color on the tips of the petals and in the center. Allow the flowers to dry completely before attaching them to green fuzzy pipe cleaners as stems.

    Miniature Easter Baskets

    • Let your toddler create this year's Easter table decoration with a row of miniature Easter baskets. Cut at least six cups out of a clean egg carton. After covering your work surface, allow your toddler to paint the outside of each cup a pastel shade for spring. Once the cups dry, make basket handles by poking a small length of colored fuzzy pipe cleaner through the top of two sides of each cup. Fill the baskets with a small amount of Easter grass and tiny craft or candy eggs.
