    • Teens will enjoy exploring the museums of Coral Gables, and may even learn a few things. The Coral Cables Merrick House was built in 1925, and was once the family home of George E. Merrick, founder of Coral Gables. The beautifully restored home, complete with grotto and gardens, offers tours where teens can learn about Coral Gables history and view the rich lifestyle of the Merrick family. The Coral Gables Museum is a 24,249 square foot art and history complex includes the original city Police and Fire Station, nine exhibition galleries, a 5000-square foot public plaza and an outdoor courtyard. The architecture, in proper Coral Gables tradition, is all Mediterranean Revival style.

    Outdoor Fun

    • Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is stunningly beautiful. Paths will lead your teen on a lush nature tour of glass art, butterflies, birds, orchids, a bubbling brook, sculptures and even a crocodile. This 83-acre tropical garden is a must-see. Matheson Hammock Park and Beach features a unique manmade atoll pool, sandy beaches, calm waters, a snack bar and restaurant. The beach is a hot spot for kite boarding and is home to a marina. The Venetian Pool is a popular tourist attraction. The pool has been around since 1923, and is the only swimming pool designated with the National Register of Historic Places. Teens can swim in the sparkling 820,000-gallon spring water pool and check out the two waterfalls, grottos and bridge.

    • Your teen can catch some live entertainment at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. From comedies to dramas to musicals, the theater offers shows that will appeal to any teen.
