How to Be Goth at School
It doesn't matter what school you go to or how strict your dress code is because you can still dress goth with some extra creativity. Follow these steps to learn how to be your true gothic self while at school.
Instructions
Know your school's dress code and follow it closely. Being sent home on a daily basis can become annoying, if your school doesn't allow sleeveless shirts or short skirts you can work around that. Color your hair but if your school doesn't allow certain colors steer clear of them. You can always use temporary dies in blue, bright red and green on the weekends when you go out with your friends. Express yourself despite your school uniform. If your school wears uniform throw in gothic accessories and cool boots. You don't have to look like everybody else even when you all wear the same outfit. Be aware of your social circle. Goths don't hang out with preppy people. If you hang out with fellow gothic people you will be less likely to be labeled a poser. Tone down your makeup at school. Most schools won't allow you to wear white face paint unless it's Halloween. Eye makeup and foundation are usually allowed but don't go over the top. Keep your religious views to yourself. Nobody likes to have religion forced on them, school is not the place to discuss religion. Discussing your religious beliefs at school could leave you open to harassment.
