Choosing a college close to your home offers the additional benefit of a reduced commute time. See if the college offers daycare. Many colleges have daycare programs right on campus. If they don't, there should be a daycare very close to the campus. Schedule your classes at times when your child can be at daycare or when you have a babysitter to watch him. Many colleges have day classes, night classes and some have weekend classes available. Talk to a college advisor about your options. Advisors can help you with questions pertaining to childcare, financial aid, jobs and living arrangements. Fill out financial aid applications every year. This will keep you in the system and updated when financial aid decisions are made. Talk to a financial aid advisor about programs for mothers. Go to the career office on campus to see about work. Many businesses offer jobs to students before opening positions to the public.
