Creative Ways to Announce the Baby's Gender to Grandparents

Many parents-to-be decide to find out the gender of their baby in advance, usually at around the 20-week point in the pregnancy. While some choose to keep this information secret until the baby is born, others announce the gender to friends and family as soon as they find out. There are several fun and creative ways to announce your baby's gender to the grandparents-to-be.

  1. Cake

    • Bake a white or angel-food cake using your favorite recipe or cake mix, and add red food coloring to the batter to make it pink if you are having a girl, or add blue food coloring if you are having a boy. Once the cake has baked, ice it with a gender neutral color such as white or yellow. Decorate the top of the cake with a question mark and present it to the grandparents-to-be. When they cut into it they will be surprised by either blue or pink cake and will be able to guess the gender of your baby.

    T-Shirts

    • T-shirts are a fun way to announce the gender of your baby. Have a shirt made that says "It's a boy" or "It's a girl" and wear it to the grandparents' house. Alternatively, have shirts made for them that say "I love my granddaughter" and "I love my grandson." Wrap them up and give them as a gift.

    Favors

    • Invite the grandparents over for dinner. At each place setting, leave a small cardboard box in a gender neutral color. Tell your guests they can open their favor when the meal is over. Place a small toy car or hairbow inside each one with a note saying, "It's a boy" or "It's a girl."

    Nursery

    • Decorate your nursery for your little pink or blue bundle of joy. Have the grandparents over for dinner and invite them to see the baby's nursery, and they will likely be able to guess the gender from your decorative colors and accessories.
