How to Shave the Pubic Area While Pregnant

Some women prefer to shave their pubic areas and there is no need to change your grooming routine while pregnant. You may find it a bit challenging during pregnancy as your growing belly makes it a bit difficult to see that area or reach it easily, though. If so, try different positions or use a mirror to help you see the area as you shave.

  • Moisturizing lotion, if desired

      Trim the pubic hair short with scissors before shaving if it̵7;s very long.

      Take a warm bath or shower before shaving the pubic area or apply a warm, wet washcloth to the area for a few minutes to soften the hair. Web MD recommends not taking a hot bath or shower for a few hours after shaving, though, because the hot water can then irritate the pores and cause unwanted bumps.

      Assume a comfortable position that allows you easy access to your pubic area. If you shave in the shower, try standing with one foot on the edge of the tub. You might also try sitting on the edge of the tub with your legs spread.

      Apply a shaving gel to the pubic hair. If you have sensitive skin, Web MD suggests using an unscented soap instead. Lather the soap in your hands, then apply it to your pubic hair.

      Shave in the direction of the hair growth to help prevent ingrown hairs. Use one hand to help hold the skin taut when needed. Use a new razor blade for best results.
