Instructions
Refilling a Diaper Genie
Remove the old bags first. Make sure the lid of the Diaper Genie is closed. Press the button on the top (it has a picture of scissors on it) and hold it down while twisting the knob on top. This cuts the bag. Open the top of the genie and tie the end of the bag in a knot. Close the top, and turn the Diaper Genie upside down. Open the bottom, pull out the bag, and discard. Close the bottom hatch, and turn the genie upright. Purchase a refill pack. Stage one refills are for infants. Stage two refills are designed for toddlers and are a little sturdier. Once you are ready to install the refill, remove the plastic wrapping and the piece of lightweight cardboard that is stuck to the top of the refill. Grasp the edges of the plastic bag that can be seen on the top of the refill. Pull out some of the material--probably five or six inches. Tie a knot in the plastic in order to close up the hole. Stuff the plastic back down into the Diaper Genie. Do this by pushing the knot you just tied down first. This creates a compartment in which the dirty diaper will go. Close the lid until you need to deposit a dirty diaper!
