How to Dress a Newborn in Summer
Newborns have a hard time regulating their body temperature, so it is up to parents to dress them comfortably in every season. While it is important to keep newborn babies warm, it is also important to avoid overdressing them and causing overheating. It is generally okay to dress newborns in as much clothing as parents are wearing, plus one layer. During the summer it is important to use hats as well, to protect a newborn's sensitive eyes.
Instructions
Fasten a diaper onto the newborn baby before getting her dressed. To do this, lift her lower half gently by the ankles and slide the diaper underneath her. Pull the front of the diaper between her legs and up around her stomach and then fasten the pull tabs from the back to the front. Pull a onesie gently over his head and arms. Fasten the buttons at the bottom to keep the onesie in place. Pull her outer layer of clothing on over top of the onesie. It is important for her to wear as much clothes as her parents are comfortable in, plus one extra layer for warmth. An example is a onesie plus a pair of shorts and a short sleeved shirt. Slide his feet into a pair of socks and soft newborn shoes. Place a sunhat onto his head to keep any sunlight out of his eyes.
