How to Clean an Avent Steam Sterilizer
A sterilizer is a helpful item to have when feeding your baby. If you don't use an automatic dishwasher, or if your automatic dishwasher doesn't include a sterilizing option, it is especially useful to have a separate sterilizer to ensure your baby feeding supplies are clean and free of germs that could make a baby ill. Sterilized bottles and other feeding supplies are important.
A sterilizer using steam will, over time, accrue a build up of "scale"---the minerals left behind when water evaporates. Keeping your sterilizer free of scale will keep it functioning at its best for many years.
Things You'll Need
- 3.5 ounces of vinegar
Instructions
Unlpug your sterilizer and be sure it is completely cool. The sterilizer should be empty of all bottles or other items when you clean it. Mix about 3.5 ounces of plain, white vinegar with about 7 ounces of cool water. Distilled water is best, but tap water works, too. Pour the vinegar and water mixture into the sterilizer. Allow it to stand until you see that the scale buildup on the sterilizer has dissolved. Drain the vinegar and water mixture and rinse with pure water. Wipe dry. Previous:How to Burp an Infant
