Surprise Twins Are Apparently a Thing That Happens Now

We can probably all agree that 2020 was full of surprises, but surprise twins just might take the cake.

A viral post currently making the rounds on Facebook tells the story of one mom who didn’t find out she was carrying twins until her second baby was born. Yes, you read that right. Surprise! It’s another baby!

Surprise twins? But how?!

A big part of what makes this story so incredible is just how well the second twin managed to hide herself.

In a feat that would impress Jason Bourne himself, she managed to avoid being seen on two different late-term, full belly ultrasounds, and multiple doppler readings. She also had herself positioned in there so mama always measured correctly for a singleton pregnancy.

Impressive, right?

Hiding herself for 9 months wasn’t her only trick

In addition to her master level hide-and-seek skills, she was also born en caul, at term, and was the *exact* same size as her sister, with both girls weighing in at an impressive 6 pounds, 11 ounces and 20 inches long.

Oh, and they have matching blood types and matching heads of hair. Kinda feels like these girls were planning this surprise debut from the beginning, doesn’t it?

All hail the birth photographer

All I can say is thank goodness someone was photographing this once in a lifetime moment. Her face is PERFECTION, and absolutely captures the chaos, wonder, and joy of this incredible story. Although this didn’t line up with her birth plan (in so many ways), she sums it up well when she says, “It was beautiful, I’m not even upset about not having a home birth again. Everything couldn’t have been more perfectly serendipitous.”

We couldn’t agree more. Congrats to the whole fam!

Special thanks to Who Sundae, who allowed us to share her incredible story. She also added that these babes were actually born in 2019, but the story is just now coming out because they’ve “just been in complete shock.” Understandable, and likely an understatement.
