      Five month olds are more confident about exploring the world around them. Take them on errands with you, to the zoo, restaurants ect...

      Small groups of friends and family members are great ways to entertain baby and teach him/her about socialization skills. Infants at this age feel overwhelmed in large crowds. Always sit in small groups (1-3 people) and let infants warm up to new people before interacting with them.

      The outdoors, family pets, stoller rides, bath time are all great play activities to build into your infant routine. The outdoors will help build a healthy sleep/awake cycle, family pets teach children not to be afraid of animals, stoller rides are perfect before nap time activity, and bath time is a great way to end the day and will help baby fall alseep by lowering their core temperature.

      Popular toys include: exersaucers, teethers, rattles, stuffed animals/puppets (interactive play- wrestling and tickling), and musical toys. Use these toys to play social games (peek-a-boo) and help build tummy time skills to work on your next developmental milestone- crawling! Get baby strong by doing lots of tummy time.

      With the advice from your peditrician, continue to expand baby's diet to include level one baby foods. Always introduce one food at a time to monitor for allergies.
