Children's Activities in Omaha

Parents can find a wide variety of activities for their children in Omaha, Nebraska. Most centers offer special admission days and events, so remember to call ahead. Also ask for a group discount or day pass if it will to save a few dollars.

  1. Henry Doorly Zoo

    • The Henry Doorly Zoo includes a 2,450 square-foot butterfly and insect pavilion, three-acre Gorilla Valley and Bear Valley, containing a 30,000-gallon pool for above- and below-ground viewing. Visitors can see alligator training sessions at the Kingdoms of the Night. The zoo's newest attraction, Skyfari, will allow visitors to ride over popular exhibits such as Garden of the Senses and Monkey Island, as well as many of the zoo's other animals. Yearly events include a teddy bear clinic, Earth Day celebration and haunted safari, celebrating Halloween. The zoo is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Pump It Up

    • Pump It Up is a climate-controlled inflatable jumping gym, offering "Pump Start" structured play time for preschool-age children. Play groups offer sing-a-longs, group activities and an opportunity for kids to practice social skills. Pump It Up also offers "Pop-in Playtime," unstructured free time for children to bounce, slide and use the inflatable equipment. Birthday parties and other special events can be booked. Parental or adult supervision is required. A safety video is presented before children can use the equipment.

    Orchard Park Sprayground

    • Voted best Omaha park by "Parents' Picks" magazine, the Orchard Park Sprayground is designed with an outer space theme. The sun, planets and stars are visually designed in the playground's rubber surface. The nearby traditional play equipment has a rocket ship in similar colors. Water spray equipment includes ground sprayers, water wheel, spray arches and hoops. Admission is free and the park is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily between Labor Day and Memorial Day.
