How to Sterilize Water-Filled Teethers
Infants get their first tooth between 6 and 8 months old, according to the New York State Department of Health. Teething often leads to pain as the teeth break through the gums. Some parents find that a water-filled teether helps ease this pain. These teethers are designed to be refrigerated so their coolness soothes the baby̵7;s gums. Clean and sterilize your baby̵7;s water-filled teethers to prevent germs from transferring from the teether to your baby.
Things You'll Need
- Dish soap
- Rag
- 1 tablespoon chlorine bleach
Instructions
Wash the teethers in a clean sink with hot, soapy water and a clean rag. Rinse them well, then lay them flat to dry completely. Drain the soapy water from the sink. Rinse it out, then fill it with a mixture of 1 gallon of warm water and 1 tablespoon chlorine bleach. Place the teethers in the bleach and water mixture. Let them soak for five minutes. Remove the teethers from the water. Rinse them well with clean water, then lay them flat to air dry completely.
